The Olathe Northwest Boys Soccer team faced the Eudora Cardinals on Saturday, September 21 and handled it well, bringing them down by a score of 11 goals to 1. The Ravens had a shaky start, giving up a cheap goal early in the game, but the 11 unanswered goals were too much for the Cardinals to match. The game ended with about 8 minutes left, as a 10 goal lead ends the game according to the KSHAA guidelines.
Many players on the team contributed to the win, including 2 goals and 2 assists from freshman Colin Gann, as well as another goal and assist from freshman Noah Conover. Davis Goertzen had 2 goals of his own, but showed no remorse for the opposing team. “It was a lot of fun to score that many goals as a team, and just go out and have fun with the guys.” The team as a whole played well, picking apart the Eudora defense, keeping possession for a majority of the game.
The Ravens play next against Shawnee Mission South this Tuesday at SMS. After an impressive win, the Ravens are looking to ride the high and capitalize in this Sunflower League match.
