On September 13, the ONW Raven football team faced off against the Olathe South Falcons at ODAC. It was a very close game, but the Ravens fell short with a final score of 20-19.
The Ravens started off with a touchdown by Ryan Andrew, putting them up 7-0. The Falcons then scored 2 touchdowns, along with one extra point, leaving the score 13-7. Still in the first half, the Ravens take back the lead with another touchdown from Ryan Andrew. With a field goal by John Lindsay, ONW was up 17-13 at half.
The Ravens fought tough in the second half, but were unable to score against the Falcons. With 3 minutes left in the second half, Olathe South scored a touchdown, putting the Ravens down 20-17. ONW took a loss, but played hard against Olathe South.
“As a team we played our hearts out, even if the scoreboard did not represent that,” said defensive back player Kaleb White. Cade Conover, the team’s center, spoke about how the Ravens can improve for the next game. “I guess we need to keep up the intensity and finish every play,” he said.
The Ravens will look for their first win of the season as they return home to face the Shawnee Mission East Lancers Thursday night at CBAC. Both teams are 0-2 to begin the season.
