ONW Volleyball Spikes the Olathe East Hawks Into the Ground

By Ethan Goss

Olathe Northwest Volleyball had a double header at Olathe East on Tuesday, September 17. The Ravens lost the first game two sets to none against Lawrence; however, the ravens came back strong in the second game defeating Olathe East in two sets.

The Ravens did not play to the best of their abilities against Lawrence Free State. They started out behind and could never get a good run going to get the lead or momentum back that they needed to win the game. ”We chose not to do the small things and it really affected our game. We could have focused more in the beginning and should have focused more on getting blocks and passes,” varsity player Alaina Cass said. The Ravens realized their mistakes from the first game and got to work right away against Olathe East. It was obvious that the Ravens were more focused coming back from being down five in the first set they came back to win 29-27. After that they were fully prepared to easily win the second set beating the Hawks at their home court.

The Ravens plan to continue the same play style that they showed against the Hawks as they play in the MOKAN tournament Saturday, September 21. They will then have a big game against their rivals Olathe West the following Tuesday along with another game versus Shawnee Mission East.
