On Aug. 30, the Olathe Northwest Raven’s boys soccer team won their first game in a tightly contested battle against Olathe East at CBAC. This is their first victory against the OE boys team since 2011, beating them 2-1 in the season opener. The build-up for the game was immense and many of the fans, players and coaches were excited for the game. Both teams were scoreless for the beginning of the first half.
Olathe East started out on top with their first goal after a goal by the Ravens was nullified, leading 1-0. They kept that lead going into halftime, and both teams had their time to recuperate. After halftime, at the 32 minute mark, Mason Budoski scored the Raven’s first goal of the game, leaving the game tied at 1-1. Two minutes later, Davis Goertzen scored a corner kick, and the players and fans went wild. The Ravens led 2-1.
The Ravens went on to keep that lead for the rest of the half, winning the game 2-1 against their rivals Olathe East. The Ravens were ecstatic about the victory, with Mason and Davis leading the way. The Ravens play Park Hill South on September 5th at CBAC at 5 P.M. They also play Ray Pee at CBAC on September 7th at 12 P.M.
