The ONW Raven Cross Country team raced at the Spartan Invitational for their second ever meet in Colorado.
The Runners left Thursday morning and drove all the way to Colorado Springs. The next morning, the team did group yoga to prepare for the afternoon meet. Despite the vast difference in altitude, the Raven Runners competed well, with Lydia McGlockin placing second and Ashton Dain placing 19th. On the boys side, Logan Read also raced well, placing 12th. The 5k course had lots of hills, but there was a nice downhill for the last mile and then a tree line finish. After the race, the team spent time together all night. The next morning the team ran at Garden of the Gods followed by team breakfast. Afterwards, the team drove home the next day to finish of the trip.
For the second annual Colorado trip the team couldn’t have any more fun. “It was something I would never forget,” said senior Ashton Dain. Last year Ashton wasn’t able to make it to Colorado, so finally being able to go on the trip was a special memory to last for her senior year of cross country. Although the trip is over this event will forever be something the seniors remember for the rest of their lives.
The Ravens’ next event is the homecoming ball run Thursday, October 10th. Here you’ll see the Varsity Cross Country runners run the football from SMNW all the way back to ONW to handover to Coach Hafner.
