The boys dominated in the first tournament of the bowling season at College Lanes on January 17! Olathe Northwest took on the Shawnee Mission West Vikings, and the Sumner Academy Spartans. In a bowling tournament the bowler plays three games and in each game there are 10 frames, the officials take the scores of each bowler from each game and add them up to find the top three girl and boy bowlers. Dalton Kincaid placed 1st bowling a 628 series, he bowled a 196 in the first game, a 204 in the second game, and a 228 in the third game. Dalton had this to say about the tournament “We did really well, we came together and it was really good for our first meet considering some bowlers had never bowled before they pushed through the nerves and helped the team win.” The Shawnee Mission West Vikings had experienced bowlers who gave the Ravens a run for their money but the boys Varsity and Junior Varsity pulled through with a victory. The boy’s team is now 2-0 with a great start to the season. “ We need to improve on getting the spares we can not leave any open frames, that will make us better and a team to contend with for state.” Although the girl’s team lost to Shawnee Mission West they did good as a whole and plan to improve on many things before their next meet. Olathe Northwest takes on Shawnee Mission North and Olathe South on Tuesday January 22 at Mission Bowl.
