On Wednesday, November 8th, Heartland Community Church opened their facilty up to teens who needed a break from the stress of school. To end the fall season, they provided 1,000 pumpkins for kids and teens to smash. This was a great way for students to find a place to release any aggression and was a nice way to relax. Although this was held at a church, Alicia Whitmore says that this was just a way to get students involved in a organziation outside of the community. Joe Ratterman also acknowledges the everday stresses students go through and he knew that by putting this event on, students would be able to take a night off from the homework. ONW student, Grant Langford says that getting involved outside of the classroom helps relieve stress and helps alleviate his aniexty. He suggests that everyone get involved in something because its a great way to make connections beyond just your high school. There’s always opportunities and other events going on in the community so make sure you read your local news and see what you can get involved in!
